Tungsten Molybdenum Rod Description
Leave a message
Molybdenum does not occur naturally as a free metal on Earth, but occurs in minerals in various oxidation states. This free element is a silvery metal with a gray cast and has the sixth highest melting point of all elements.

It readily forms hard, stable carbides in alloys, so much of the world's production of this element (about 80%) is used to make many types of steel alloys, including high-strength alloys and high-temperature alloys.

Most molybdenum compounds have low solubility in water, but the molybdate ion MoO42− is soluble and forms when molybdenum-containing minerals come into contact with oxygen and water. Industrially, molybdenum compounds (accounting for approximately 14% of world production of this element) are used in high-pressure and high-temperature applications as pigments and catalysts.
