Silver tungsten strip AgW70 and silver tungsten strip-AgW50

Silver tungsten rod-AgW75 is one of the high refractory tungsten silver materials made by pressing sintering and infiltration method. It usually has high resistance to arc erosion.

It is commonly used as arc-quenching contacts in large air and oil circuit breakers, line disconnects, reclosers, and high current switches and contactors. The contact resistance is low enough to protect the higher conductivity current-carrying contacts from arc damage. Its resistance to welding makes it a good short-circuit contact for bimetallic protection of circuit breakers.

Silver Tungsten Strips AgW70 and Silver Tungsten Strips-AgW50 contain more silver than Silver Tungsten Strips-AgW75, thus providing higher conductivity and lower contact resistance. They are widely used in various circuit breakers.

In this application, a single pair of contacts serves a dual function: carrying current without overheating, and interrupting current flow without excessive arc corrosion. They are also used in high current contactors where resistance to contact welding and arc erosion is required. They resist metal transfer in a variety of DC applications.

Silver tungsten rod-AgW50 has the highest silver content among pressed-sintered-pressed tungsten silver materials. It has good resistance to contact welding and is used for current-carrying contacts in power circuit breakers that carry high transient currents.
