Molybdenum billet

Molybdenum billets (molybdenum rods) can be divided into forged molybdenum billets and polished molybdenum billets according to the degree of surface processing. There is an oxide film and slight forging marks on the surface of the forged molybdenum billet. The surface of the polished molybdenum billet has a metallic luster without obvious oxidation. Molybdenum rods can be divided into the following main brands according to their chemical composition and use: GMPM, MHLM, and MHYM.

ZhenAn molybdenum rods are mainly used to manufacture electronic vacuum devices, guide rods, electrodes, outlet wires, heating electronic components, etc. MHLM and MHYM are mainly used to manufacture pipes, lamp pillars, side poles, wires, etc.

Put the molybdenum rods of the same brand, batch number and specifications into wooden boxes, tie them with plastic ropes or soft iron wires, wrap them in waterproof paper, and put them into isolation foam board wooden boxes or cartons. During transportation, the molybdenum rods should be protected from moisture and should not be subject to violent collisions. The product should be stored in a ventilated, dry, acid-free place to prevent oxidation, and the storage period should not exceed six months.

After the molybdenum rod is burned at high temperature by a hydrogen-oxygen flame, dark oxide substances will be formed on the surface, but molybdenum is stable at room temperature.

An oxidation reaction occurs at 500°C to generate surface oxide molybdenum trioxide. Molybdenum trioxide is slightly soluble in hydrochloric acid, soluble in hot concentrated sulfuric acid and concentrated nitric acid. In addition, it is soluble in ammonia hydroxide and alkali aqueous solutions, so dilute sodium hydroxide solution can be used to clean the oxide film on the surface of the molybdenum rod.
