High density of tungsten
Tungsten's high density means it is an ideal material for creating vibration-free boring bars. Tungsten alloy rods including WNiFe, WNiCu or WNiCuFe are commonly used in this field.
Using tungsten toolholders means heavier cuts, longer tool life and a better finish. Depending on the diameter, the tool can be lengthened up to 10:1. Due to high thermal conductivity, the tool runs cooler and we can braze directly to the material without affecting its physical properties.
These materials are often used in place of tungsten carbide boring bars because they have a higher density, are easier to machine, and are less prone to chipping and breakage. Additionally, material and finishing costs are lower.
Tungsten alloy rods can be made into two different shapes: tungsten rods and tungsten bars
