What Is The Difference Between Zr702 And Zr705?

What is the difference between Zr702 and Zr705?

While Zr702 and Zr705 are both zirconium alloys with similar properties, there are significant differences between them that affect their suitability for specific applications.

One of the main differences between Zr702 and Zr705 is their composition. Zr702 consists of almost pure zirconium, with only a small amount of hydrogen added to improve its mechanical properties. Zr705, on the other hand, contains additional elements such as niobium, tin, and oxygen, which are added to improve its high-temperature strength and formability.

Another significant difference between these two alloys is their mechanical strength. Zr702 has excellent ductility and can be easily formed into a variety of shapes, making it ideal for applications requiring a high degree of flexibility. In comparison, Zr705 is a stronger, stiffer material better suited for applications where high-temperature strength and stiffness are critical. The tensile strength and yield strength of Zr705 are much higher than that of Zr702. You can check out the table below for a further comparison between Zr702 and Zr705.
