What is iron phosphorus used for?

Ferrophosphorus is a raw material used in the smelting process. It is mainly used to remove iron oxide and other impurities in molten steel, and at the same time, an appropriate amount of phosphorus is added to the molten steel to improve the performance of steel. Specifically, the role of ferrophosphorus in smelting includes:

Removing iron oxide: ferrophosphorus can react with iron oxide in molten steel to form iron phosphate, thereby reducing the iron oxide in it to iron and phosphate ions, thereby achieving the purpose of removing iron oxide.

Removing impurities such as sulfur and manganese: ferrophosphorus can also react with impurities such as sulfur and manganese in molten steel to form corresponding compounds, thereby removing impurities in it.

Adding an appropriate amount of phosphorus: Iron phosphide contains a high phosphorus content. When it is added to molten steel, it can increase the phosphorus content in steel and improve the properties of steel, such as enhancing the toughness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance of steel.

It should be noted that the amount and time of using ferrophosphorus should be controlled according to the specific situation to ensure the quality and stability of molten steel. At the same time, relevant safety operating procedures must be followed during use to prevent ferrophosphorus from causing harm to the human body, equipment and the environment.
