Petroleum Coke Knowledge

Petroleum coke is a hard solid petroleum product in black or dark gray, with metallic luster and porous. It is granular, columnar or acicular carbon formed by tiny graphite crystals. Petroleum coke is composed of hydrocarbons, containing 90-97% carbon, 1.5-8% hydrogen, nitrogen, chlorine, sulfur and heavy metal compounds. Metallic luster, porous, granular, columnar needle.

Petroleum Coke

Petroleum coke is mainly used as prebaked anode and anode paste for electrolytic aluminum, carbonizing agent for carbon industry, graphite electrode, silicon and fuel for smelting industry, and is a by-product of delayed coking unit feedstock pyrolysis to produce light oil. The output of petroleum coke is about 25-30% of that of crude oil. Its low calorific value is about 1.5-2 times that of coal, ash content is not more than 0.5%, volatile content is about 11%, and its quality is close to that of anthracite.
