Before the 1960s, the electric furnace method was used to produce stainless steel, and it was difficult to decarburize. The carbon content of stainless steel depends on the carbon content of the raw materials. In this way, the carbon content of the furnace charge must be strictly limited, and only low-carbon ferrochrome can be selected. As the main source of chromium for stainless steel smelting. To produce low-carbon grated iron, silicon-chromium alloy must be produced, which requires the production of high-carbon ferrochrome with a carbon content of 4% to 6% from lumpy chrome ore with a certain high-temperature strength.
