Products Description
Ferrochrome is an alloy of chromium and iron mixed and used primarily in the production of materials such as high-speed steel and stainless steel. It has excellent properties such as corrosion resistance and high temperature stability, and is widely used in modern industry. The following is the production process of ferrochrome alloy.
Raw material preparation: The main raw materials of ferrochrome alloy are chromite ore and metallurgical roasted limestone. Chromite is an ore that contains chromium and iron. Generally contain more than 60% chromium and more than 20% iron. Cangjin burnt limestone is a kind of limestone used in metallurgical production, and its main components are calcium oxide and magnesium oxide.
Smelting preparation: mix chromite and roasted limestone in proportion and send them to blast furnace for smelting. A blast furnace is a large metallurgical facility used to melt iron ore and other raw materials to produce molten iron and slag. At high temperature, iron ore and roasted limestone will interact to form iron and slag, and gradually reduce ferrochromium.
Separation of ferrochrome alloy: The molten iron and slag are layered at the bottom of the blast furnace, and the ferrochrome alloy flows out of the blast furnace together with the molten iron. The proportion of ferrochrome alloy in the molten iron is generally very small, and further separation is required. A common method is to pour the molten iron into a ladle and separate the ferrochromium and other impurities by vacuum distillation. After several distillations, the content of ferrochrome is gradually increased.
Quenching treatment: Ferrochromium has high hardness and toughness, but usually needs to be quenched to improve its performance. Quenching is a rapid cooling process that can harden and refine the alloy structure while improving its wear resistance and strength. Quenching can be done by water quenching, oil quenching or air cooling.
Refining treatment: After separation and quenching treatment, the content of impurities and other impure substances in ferrochromium alloy is still relatively high. In order to further increase its purity and quality, it needs to be refined. Refining treatment can be carried out by vacuum oxygen absorption, gas flotation, magnetic separation and other methods. After refining, the ferrochromium alloy has been improved in purity and quality.
Packing and leaving the factory: the ferrochrome alloy after refining treatment needs to be packed and shipped. Generally, ferrochrome alloys are packed into steel drums, sealed and packaged, and then transported to downstream manufacturers for the production of various alloy materials and products.
