Products Description

 Silica fume can be used as a supplementary cementitious material in concrete, especially in self-consolidating concrete, due to its unique properties such as high pozzolanic activity, improved workability, increased strength and durability. Its small particle size allows it to fill the gaps between the cement particles, enhancing the packing density, reducing the porosity, and increasing the strength of the cement matrix. In addition, silica fume reacts with calcium hydroxide to form additional calcium silicate hydrate (CSH) gel, which enhances the strength, durability, and chemical resistance of the concrete. Silica fume also reduces the permeability of concrete, which makes it less susceptible to damage from freeze-thaw cycles, acid attack, and chloride ion penetration.
