Silica Fume For High-Density Concrete
Silica fume is a highly reactive pozzolanic material that is used as a supplementary cementitious material in high-density concrete.
Description
Products Description
. It is a by-product of the production of silicon metal and ferrosilicon alloys, and consists of amorphous silicon dioxide particles with a high surface area. Due to its fineness and high reactivity, silica fume can greatly improve the strength, durability, and impermeability of concrete. It enhances the packing density of the mixture, reduces the porosity and permeability, and helps to mitigate the effects of shrinkage and cracking. Silica fume also reduces the heat of hydration and enhances the workability and pumpability of the concrete mixture. It is commonly used in precast, shotcrete, and high-performance applications such as bridges, tunnels, dams, and nuclear power plants.

Products Description
1It is a highly reactive pozzolan, meaning that in the presence of water and calcium hydroxide (lime), it forms calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) and calcium aluminate hydrate (C-A-H) gels that contribute to the strength and durability of concrete.
2.The addition of silica fume to high-density concrete can significantly increase its compressive strength, flexural strength, and abrasion resistance, making it suitable for high-stress applications such as bridges, tunnels, and marine structures
3.Silica fume can reduce the porosity of concrete and increase its impermeability, making it more resistant to chemical attack and freeze-thaw cycles.
4. Due to its fine particle size, silica fume can also improve workability, reduce bleeding and segregation, and enhance the overall appearance of the finished product.
