What is ferro titanium used for?

 

 

Ferro-titanium is an alloy of titanium and iron that is mainly used as a key additive in the smelting of iron and steel to optimize steel properties. Its core applications cover a wide range of industrial sectors:

As a deoxidizer, degasser and carbon and sulphur stabilizer, it reduces segregation in the upper part of the ingot, improves the quality of the steel and increases the yield.
Titanium combines with nitrogen to form stable titanium nitride, eliminating the negative effects of nitrogen on steel properties; reacts with sulphur to form titanium sulphide, preventing hot embrittlement defects caused by iron sulphide; and carbon to form titanium carbide, which refines the grain structure and enhances the strength of steel.

Adding titanium and iron to fix the carbon element, prevent intergranular chromium depletion, significantly improve the corrosion resistance and welding performance of stainless steel.

Promote the generation of fine-grained graphite, realize degassing, gestation, purification and refinement of the organization function, enhance the wear resistance and heat resistance of castings.

As an additive for superalloys and aluminum alloys to optimize material properties; also used in electrode coatings to enhance welding quality and stability.
