What Is Ferro Phosphorus Used For?

What are the main uses of ferrophosphorus?

Ferrophosphorus is obtained from phosphorus-making electric furnaces. It is a symbiotic compound containing 26-28% phosphorus and 0.1-6% silicon. Ferrophosphorus is used as an alloying agent in the steelmaking industry and can also produce phosphates. It is used as an alloying additive and deoxidizer in metallurgy. In general steel products, phosphorus is a harmful component, but in some special products, the addition of phosphorus can improve certain aspects of the performance of steel.

What is ferro phosphorus used for?

Ferrophosphorus is widely used in rolling mills, automobile cylinder liners, engine rollers and large castings to increase the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of mechanical parts. Phosphorus partially dissolves in ferrite in steel, and partially forms very brittle compounds. The plasticity and toughness of steel at room temperature are sharply reduced, and the brittle transition temperature is increased. Ferrophosphorus can be used to make the shells of grenades, artillery shells, etc. Because of its brittleness, a large number of shrapnel can be obtained after the explosion, which improves the killing efficiency.

In the medium and long term, silicon manganese and ferrosilicon can make their own contributions to the steel smelting industry, and there is still room for profit margins. In the short term, the silicon manganese and ferrosilicon supply side needs to obtain normal profits to increase the operating rate and gradually replenish the market inventory to a healthy state. It is expected that prices will have a certain upward momentum. In terms of arbitrage strategy, we still recommend going long on the ferrosilicon-silicon manganese price difference.
