Uses Of Ferrochrome

Ferrochrome is a non-ferrous metal composed of chromium and iron, which is the key aluminum alloy additive in ironmaking. According to different carbon content, ferrochrome is divided into high carbon steel ferrochrome (carbon content is 4~8%), medium carbon ferrochrome (carbon content is 0.25~4%), low carbon environmental protection ferrochrome (carbon content is 0.15~0.45%), micro-carbon ferrochrome (carbon content is 0.01%), ultra-micro carbon ferrochrome (carbon content is less than 0.03%), metallic chromium, silicon nickel alloy, etc. Common silicon nickel alloy, nitriding chromium and so on.

Micro - carbon chromite key for the production of stainless steel plate, acid - resistant steel and wear - resistant steel. Smelter methods include electric silicon thermal method and thermal conversion method.

Medium and low carbon environmental friendly ferrochrome is used for the production of medium and low carbon environmental friendly alloy structural steel, manganese steel, alloy tool steel.

High carbon steel ferrochrome (including recycled ferrochrome) applicable scope:

(1) As an aluminum alloy agent for ball steel, alloy steel and spring steel with high carbon content, it can improve the cutting performance, wear resistance and strength of steel;

(2) as an addition to pig iron, improve the wear resistance and hardness of pig iron, and make pig iron have excellent temperature resistance;

(3) As a magnesium-containing raw material for the slag-free production of Si-Ni alloy and vertical, low and micro-carbon ferrochrome;

(4) as a magnesium-containing raw material for the production and manufacture of chromium metal in electrolytic salt water;

(5) as the raw material for the stainless steel plate of the oxygen blowing smelter.
