Single-crystal cells are a type of solar panel made of highly pure silicon crystals. Compared with polycrystalline cells, single-crystal cells have more complete and uniform crystal structure, so they are more efficient. Single-crystal cells are usually square or nearly square, with small trapezoids cut off at the four corners, in order to avoid stress concentration that causes cracks in the cell during manufacturing.
