Both calcium and silicon have a strong affinity for oxygen. Calcium, in particular, has a strong affinity with oxygen, but also with sulfur and nitrogen. So SiCa alloy is an ideal compound bonding agent and desulfurizer. Silicon alloy deoxidation ability is strong, deoxidation products are easy to float, easy to discharge, but also can improve the performance of steel, improve the plasticity of steel, impact toughness and fluidity. At present, silicon calcium alloy can replace aluminum for final deoxidation. Used for steel, special steel and special alloy production. Such as rail steel, low carbon steel, stainless steel and nickel base alloy, titanium base alloy and other special alloy, can be used as a deoxidizing agent of silicon calcium alloy. Silicon-calcium alloy can also be used as a temperature enhancer in the converter steelmaking workshop. Silicon-calcium alloy can also be used as inoculant of cast iron and additive in ductile iron production.
