We all know that ferrosilicon is an iron alloy composed of iron and silicon. Ferrosilicon is an iron-silicon alloy made by smelting in an electric furnace using coke (also known as blue coke), steel scraps, and quartz (or silica) as raw materials. Blue coke, which can also be called semi-coke or coke powder, is made by burning high-quality Jurassic clean coal blocks produced in Shenfu, Yulin, and Dongsheng coalfields. It has a block structure. The particle size is generally above 3MM and the color is light black. Properties and uses: The blue coke has high fixed carbon, high resistivity, high chemical activity, low ash content, low aluminum, low sulfur, and low phosphorus. It can replace metallurgical coke, smokeless blocks, and charcoal and is widely used in the production of calcium carbide, metallic silicon, ferroalloys, ferrosilicon, ferrochrome, silicon manganese, silicon carbide, fertilizers and other products.
The production process of coke adopts advanced dry distillation roasting process, equipped with temperature measuring equipment, balanced furnace temperature and stable quality of semi-coke. Its fixed carbon ratio and soil-refined semi-coke are increased by 5-10 percentage points on average; volatile matter and ash content are reduced by 3-5 percentage points on average; and the calorific value exceeds 7500 kcal, and the gasification performance is better than general metallurgical coke, which is an ideal coke for chemical, smelting, gasification and other industries.
Pay attention to the following three points when using semi-coke in production. 1. Pay attention to the origin. 2. Pay attention to the water content. 3. Pay attention to whether various indicators meet the requirements of smelting calcium carbide. Many companies do not use semi-coke 100% in production. One of the points is that the concentric circle of the electric furnace is too large, which causes the phenomenon of insufficient furnace temperature to a certain extent, and the three phases are not connected. Once the load is increased unreasonably or the operation is improper, it may even cause the phenomenon of calcium carbide flipping. Therefore, it is recommended to proceed in the following way. In an electric furnace with a small concentric circle, the quality does not need to be controlled too high when semi-coke is used in full. In an electric furnace with a large concentric circle, when semi-coke is used in full, the ratio should be slightly increased. The production of higher quality calcium carbide is easier to control than the production of low quality calcium carbide.
