Rotary kiln roasting molybdenum concentrate
In China, externally heated rotary kilns are used to roast molybdenum concentrate. The technical parameters of the rotary kiln are: length 18000mm; diameter 1100mm; rotation speed 0.5-1r/min; inclination angle 1%. The feeding capacity is 190-200kg per hour, and the daily output of each kiln is 3.8-4.5t of molybdenum oxide sand.
The materials in the kiln move from the kiln end to the kiln head due to the rotation and tilt of the kiln body. At the same time, the oxidation reaction of molybdenite begins.
According to the thermochemical reaction of MoS2 in the kiln and the thermal effect of the heating furnace, the kiln can be roughly divided into three sections. The position of each section changes with the feeding speed and the physical properties and chemical composition of the concentrate:
(1) Preheat the drying belt. This section is located 6-7m at the end of the kiln, and the temperature is between 773-923K. The material is preheated and dried in this section to remove oil and water.
(2) Reaction zone. This section is located 4-5m in the middle of the kiln, with a temperature of 923-1073K. MoS2 reaches the ignition point in this section, and the oxidation reaction mainly relies on its own chemical reaction heat to generate molybdenum oxide. When the residual sulfur in the material drops below 3.5%, it is no longer possible to rely on reaction heat for desulfurization. At this time, the high temperature supplied by the heating furnace is used to continue to remove the residual sulfur.
(3) Cooling zone. At 7-8m from the kiln head, the temperature is between 923-1023K. The roasted cooked molybdenum ore is cooled down in this section and then released.
Rotary kiln roasts molybdenum concentrate, and the material stays in the furnace for about 4 hours. Gravity and cyclone dust collectors are used to collect dust. The recovery rate of molybdenum concentrate roasted in the rotary kiln is 96.6%-97.5%, the sulfur content of the cooked molybdenum ore reaches less than 0.08%, and the pass rate reaches 90%. The heating part of the rotary kiln body is easily burned out and should be replaced every three months.
