Oxygen blowing refining
Medium and low carbon ferromanganese can be obtained by blowing liquid carbon ferromanganese or manganese-silicon alloy with pure oxygen. After years of experimental research, this method entered industrial scale production in 1976. Modern large-scale ferromanganese reduction electric furnaces have a capacity of 40,000 to 75,000 kVA and are generally fixed and closed. The smelting power consumption of the flux method is generally 2500~3500 kW·h/ton, and the power consumption of the flux-free method is 2000~3000 kW·h/ton.
Manganese-silicon alloy is smelted in a closed or semi-closed reduction electric furnace. Generally, manganese ore with high silica content and low phosphorus content or additional silica is used as raw material. Manganese-rich slag contains low phosphorus and high silicon dioxide, which is a good raw material for smelting manganese-silicon alloys. Smelting power consumption is generally about 3500~5000 kilowatt hours/ton. The raw materials entering the furnace are pre-treated first, including granulation, preheating, pre-reduction and powder sintering, etc., which can significantly improve the operation and technical and economic indicators of the electric furnace.
