Products Description
Ferrotungsten is smelted in an electric furnace. Due to its high melting point, it cannot be released in liquid form, so it is produced by the agglomeration method or the iron extraction method. Before the 1930s, small (100-500 kVA) single-phase electric arc furnaces were generally used for agglomeration smelting. Later, three-phase electric furnaces were used, and the iron extraction method was developed.
There are a large number of tungsten mines in Jiangxi, Hunan and Guangdong in China, with reserves accounting for 60 to 70% of the world's reserves. From 1936 to 1938, a ferrotungsten plant was planned to be built in Ji'an, Jiangxi Province, and two 2,000 kVA three-phase electric furnaces using the agglomeration method were installed. The plant was basically completed, but was later halted due to the impact of the Anti-Japanese War. Since 1955, ferrotungsten has been produced using a 3,500 kVA electric furnace using the iron extraction method. ferro tungsten is widely used in the production of tools and machinery.
