What are the uses of ferrovanadium?
Ferrovanadium is a rare metal with a wide range of applications. It is understood that vanadium is mainly used in alloys to change the properties of steel. At the same time, ferrovanadium has been commercially used in the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, Australia and other countries. Its commercial use is mainly used for wind power generation energy storage, photovoltaic energy storage and power grid peak regulation. The waste gas contains hydrochloric acid, sulfur dioxide and sulfuric acid, which have a devastating impact on vegetation and crops; the wastewater contains pollutants such as hexavalent chromium, cadmium, and arsenic, which are very harmful to humans and animals and easily form acid rain. At present, production is shifting to underdeveloped countries and regions.

Ferrovanadium and its alloys have excellent properties such as corrosion resistance, high strength, high and low temperature strength, non-magnetic, good human adaptability, shape memory and superconductivity. Due to its light weight and high strength, it has been widely used in aerospace and other fields. In recent years, its application has gradually expanded to civil industrial fields such as shipbuilding, petrochemical equipment, offshore platforms, power equipment, medical care, and consumer goods.
There are two methods for extracting ferrovanadium from magnetite: the pyrometallurgical method is to indirectly extract ferrovanadium from concentrate or vanadium slag, and the wet method is to directly extract ferrovanadium from concentrate. At present, my country mainly adopts the indirect method of extracting ferrovanadium. Pyrometallurgical vanadium extraction process: The ferrovanadium concentrate of the beneficiation product is directly smelted in a blast furnace or electric furnace, so that most of the vanadium in the ore enters the molten iron, and then the water containing ferrovanadium is sent to the converter to blow oxygen, so that the vanadium is enriched in the slag to become vanadium slag. Peroxide vanadium is obtained from the vanadium slag by roasting, leaching and filtering. The great advantage of this method is the high vanadium recovery rate.
