Products Description

Mainly used for smelting alloy steel. About 90% of the vanadium consumed in the world is used in the steel industry. In ordinary low alloy steel, vanadium mainly refines grains, increases the strength of steel and inhibits its aging effect; in alloy structural steel, it refines grains, increases the strength and toughness of steel; in spring steel, it is used in conjunction with chromium or manganese to increase the elastic limit of steel and improve its quality;

 

In tool steel, it mainly refines the structure and grain of steel, increases the tempering stability of steel, enhances its secondary hardening effect, improves its wear resistance, and prolongs the service life of tools; in heat-resistant steel and hydrogen-resistant steel, vanadium also plays a beneficial role;

 

The vanadium added to the cast iron promotes the formation of pearlite due to the formation of carbides, making the cementite stable, the shape of the graphite particles is fine and uniform, and the grains of the matrix are refined, thus improving the hardness, tensile strength and wear resistance of the casting.

A high-carbon iron-vanadium additive for steel and vanadium-containing alloys. The composition is V83%-86%, C10.5%-13%, and Fe2%-3%. The production method is to use natural gas to reduce V2O5 to V2O4 at 600°C in a rotary kiln, and then use natural gas to reduce V2O4 to vanadium carbon oxides at 1000°C in another rotary kiln. Vanadium oxycarbides are added to coke or graphite on a calculated basis.

 

The amount of carbon added is 1% more than the calculated value of the carbon-oxygen reaction. The mixture of vanadium carbon oxide and graphite is pressurized into blocks. Put it in a vacuum furnace and heat it to 1000°C to make Carvan vanadium. The typical composition of Carvan vanadium produced by United Carbide Corporation is: V84.5%, C12.25%, Si0.05%, Al0.005%, S0.004%, P0.004%, Fe2.5%. The shape of the alloy is flat cake.

The density is 4.58g/cm. Car-van vanadium briquettes are packaged into bags, each bag contains 25 pounds of vanadium and 3.7 pounds of carbon, which can be directly added to the furnace or ladle for use without analysis. Carvan vanadium is cheaper than ferrovanadium, it dissolves faster after adding molten steel, and the vanadium yield is higher.

 

Nitrovan vanadium can be made when the briquette of vanadium carbon oxygen and graphite is fed into the furnace during the sintering process. It contains V78%~82%, C11%~12%, N2≥6.0%. Used for smelting vanadium nitrogen steel.

Vanadium Aluminum Alloy

 

Vanadium additive for the production of titanium alloys such as Ti-6A1-4V. According to the vanadium content, it is divided into 3 grades of 50%, 65% and 85%, and the balance is aluminum. Because it is an additive for vacuum smelting, it is often marked with "VQ" (vacuum quality).

 

The gas content of vanadium aluminum alloy is low, and other impurities such as Fe, Si, C, B, etc. must meet the requirements of titanium alloy. The vanadium pentoxide used in the production of vanadium-aluminum alloy is a high-purity vanadium pentoxide that is purified from industrial products to make the impurity content reach the specified range. Aluminum should use high-purity aluminum. The production site should be kept clean to avoid contamination by impurities.

 

The 85% V-Al alloy is first produced by the aluminothermic method. Then 85% V-Al alloy and aluminum are smelted in a 500kg vacuum induction furnace to form vanadium-aluminum alloy with specified vanadium content. In addition to degassing, the purpose of remelting is to make the alloy composition uniform, and the deviation of vanadium content is required to be less than 0.5%.

 

During degassing treatment, the vacuum degree in the furnace is 0.266Pa (2×10-3 Torr). Alloy ingots are crushed and sieved (no under-sieve), and vanadium-aluminum alloys with a particle size of 0.2-6 mm are removed by magnetic separation (high iron) alloy particles, and then checked by ultraviolet light and fluorescence to remove alloy particles with non-metallic inclusions.
