Products Description

Titanium is used in steel applications for airframes and aircraft components, deep drilling, hand tools, tool and machinery coatings, heat-exchanging equipment for power engineering and various components across the chemical and oil industries.

Titanium is a highly reactive metal which at steel making temperatures forms stable compounds with oxygen, carbon, nitrogen and sulphur. This "fixing" effect along with its potential to grain refine is very important in the production of certain steels e.g. HSLA grades.

Ferrotitanium is a ferroalloy composed of titanium and iron, with occasional trace carbon. It was first discovered in 1798 by W. Gregor and was partially purified by H. Moissan in 1895.

It can be obtained by melting scrap titanium together with steel or iron in an induction furnace. The alloy is highly reactive with nitrogen, oxygen, carbon and sulfur, forming insoluble compounds. It has low density, high strength and excellent corrosion resistance.
