When smelting stainless steel and heat-resistant steel, titanium and carbon are combined into a stable compound, which can prevent the formation of chromium carbide, thereby reducing intergranular corrosion and improving the weldability of chromium-nickel stainless steel.

The product of deoxidization with titanium is easy to float, and the deoxidization with titanium in the killed steel can reduce the segregation in the upper part of the ingot, thereby improving the quality of the ingot and increasing the yield of the ingot. Titanium combines with nitrogen dissolved in molten steel to form a stable, insoluble titanium nitride.
