Tabular alumina Al2O3 is a pure sintered corundum that shrinks completely without adding any additives such as MgO, B2O3, etc. It has a coarse and well-developed α-Al2O3 crystal structure, and the Al2O3 content is more than 99%.
It has a plate-like crystal structure, small pores and many closed pores, and its porosity is roughly the same as that of fused corundum. As the temperature rises, the linear shrinkage rate is reduced. After high temperature, tabular corundum is more easily sintered.
