Description
Polycrystalline silicon wafers are a material commonly used in solar panel manufacturing. It consists of multiple crystalline grains, so it is cheaper to produce than single-crystal silicon wafers. However, due to the existence of grain boundaries between crystal grains, the electron transfer efficiency of polycrystalline silicon wafers is slightly lower than that of single crystal silicon wafers, and thus its energy conversion efficiency is also slightly lower.
In the manufacturing process of polycrystalline silicon wafers, the silicon raw material needs to be heated to a high temperature to melt first, and then the melt is gradually cooled to a solidified state to form a silicon block. Then, the silicon block undergoes a series of processing procedures such as cutting, grinding, and polishing, and finally becomes a polycrystalline silicon wafer.
