Magnesium is widely used in industry as an alloying agent and also as a laboratory staple for a variety of chemical applications, where it is most commonly sold as a strip or powder metal. When it is aluminized, it becomes a very light but very strong metal. For this reason, it is often chosen as the material of choice for the most expensive electronics, such as professional cameras and luxury laptops.

The first thing you notice about magnesium is how blindingly white it is. Then you hold it in your hand and your brain looks at it again. Is this really metal? Magnesium is very light: 50% lighter than aluminum! You half expect it to float in the air, or at least in the water, but it's not, it's all psychological deception. Speaking of water, stay away from it. The two cannot coexist, as water (especially hot water) easily erodes magnesium and dulls the beautiful white surface.

Magnesium has a strong chemical activity, it replaces hydrogen in boiling water, and many metals can be formed by the salt thermal reduction and oxidation of magnesium. It binds to most non-metals and almost all acids. Magnesium reacts only slightly or not at all with most bases and many organic substances such as hydrocarbons, aldehydes, alcohols, phenols, amines, esters and most oils. Magnesium acts as a catalyst to promote organic reactions such as condensation, reduction, addition and dehalogenation. For a long time, people synthesized special and complex organic ingredients through the famous Grignard reaction. The main components of the alloy are: aluminum, manganese, zircon, zinc and rare earth metals.
