High carbon silicon is an alloy material composed of silicon and carbon, in which the content of silicon is usually more than 70%, the content of carbon is between 15% and 30%. Through this chemical composition, high-carbon silicon has the following antioxidant properties:
(1) The silicon oxide SiO2 has high stability, can form a layer of dense SiO2 protective film, prevent the erosion of oxidation. The formation of this protective film can significantly improve the oxidation resistance of high-carbon silicon. For example, in high temperature oxidation environments, SiO2 films in high carbon silicon prevent further penetration of oxygen molecules and thus prevent oxidation loss of high carbon silicon.
(2) Carbon oxide CO has high reducibility, can react with oxygen to form carbon dioxide, avoid the continuation of oxidation reaction. For example, in high-temperature oxidation environments, the carbon in high-carbon silicon can act as a reducing agent, reducing the oxide to the original element, thus preventing further erosion by oxygen.
