Description
Ferrosilicon is a kind of ferroalloy which is composed of iron and silicon. Using silica, steel, coke as raw material, the silicon at high temperature from 1500 to 1800 degrees is fused in iron liquid to form ferrosilicon alloy. Ferrosilicon is an important alloy variety in the smelting industry. Due to the silicon and oxygen are easily compound into SiO2, so ferrosilicon is also used as deoxidizer in steel-making. At the same time, ferrosilicon can be used as an alloying element additive, widely used in low alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat resistant steel and electrical silicon steel. Ferrosilicon is used as a reducing agent in iron alloy production and chemical industry.

Application
(1) Deoxidizer: Ferrosilicon can ensure the quality of steel during the steelmaking process while being used as a deoxidizer for precipitation and diffusion deoxidation.
(2) Alloying Agent: Ferro silicon can significantly improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of steel while adding it to steelmaking.
(3) Inoculant and Nodulizer: Ferrosilicon can be used as an inoculant and spheroidizer in the cast iron industry. The ferro silicon can prevent the iron to format carbides and concurrently promote the precipitation and spheroidization of graphite.
(4) Reducing Agent: High silicon ferrosilicon has a very low content of carbon, ferro silicon is a reducing agent for producing low-carbon ferroalloys in the ferroalloy industry.
