Description
Ferro Silicon uses coke, quartz (or silica) as raw materialand is made by electric furnace. Because silicon and oxygen are easily compound into SiO2, theferrosilicon is often used as deoxidizer in steelmaking. It also can be used as a suspended phase in the mineral processing industry and coatings for welding electrodes in the electrode manufacturing. According to the content of silicon , this product can be divided into FeSi with the Si content 75%,72%,65%,45%.

Application
(1) ferrosilicon is an indispensable deoxidizer in steelmaking industry. In steelmaking, ferrosilicon is used for precipitation deoxidation and diffusion deoxidation. Brick iron is also used as an alloying agent in steel-making.
(2) used as inoculant and nodulizer in cast iron industry. 75 ferrosilicon is an important inoculant and nodularizing agent in the production of ductile iron.
(3) use as reductant in ferroalloy production. Not only is there a large chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen, but ferrosilicon is low in carbon. Therefore, high silicon ferrosilicon (or siliceous alloy) is a kind of reductant commonly used in the production of low carbon ferroalloy in ferroalloy industry.
(4)75 ferrosilicon is commonly used in the high temperature smelting of metallic magnesium in the pidgeon process. When magnesium in Mgo is replaced, about 1.2 tons of ferrosilicon is consumed for every ton of magnesium produced, which plays an important role in magnesium production.
