Description

Ferro Silicon 72 is made from quartzite and coke, which are heated and smelted in an electric furnace through a professional process. Ferro silicon 72 is silvery gray in appearance with a metallic luster and can be processed into natural blocks, standard blocks, granules and powders according to requirements. Due to its rich content of silicon, ferro silicon 72 is often used in the deoxidation process in steel making, for example in some low alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat resistant steel and electrical silicon steel.

Application

(1) Ferrosilicon 72 is an indispensable deoxidizer in the steelmaking industry. In steelmaking, ferrosilicon is used for precipitation deoxidation and diffusion deoxidation.

(2)Ferrosilicon 72 used as an inoculant and spheroidizing agent in the cast iron industry. In the production of nodular cast iron,  ferrosilicon 72 is an important inoculant (helping to precipitate graphite) and nodulizer.

(3)Ferrosilicon 72 used as a reducing agent in the production of ferroalloys. Not only the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen is great, but the carbon content of high-silicon ferrosilicon is very low. Therefore, high-silicon ferrosilicon (or silicon alloy) is a commonly used reducing agent in the production of low-carbon iron alloys in the ferroalloy industry.

(4) Ferrosilicon 72 is often used in the high-temperature smelting process of magnesium metal in the Pidgeon method of magnesium smelting. The magnesium in CaO.MgO is replaced, and each ton of metal magnesium will consume about 1.2 tons of ferrosilicon. The production of magnesium metal plays a big role.
