Products Description

The production methods of high carbon ferrochrome include electric furnace method and shaft furnace. (blast furnace) method, plasma method and smelting reduction method. The shaft furnace method now only produces low-chromium alloys_(Cr<30%), and the

production process of the shaft furnace method with a higher content (such as Cr>60%) is still in the research stage, and the two methods are emerging processes that are being explored; Therefore, the vast majority of commercial high-carbon ferrochrome and reprocessed ferrochrome are produced by electric furnace (submerged arc furnace) method. Electric furnace smelting has the following characteristics

(1) The electric furnace uses electricity, the cleanest energy. Other energy sources such as coal, coke, crude oil, natural gas, etc. will inevitably bring associated impurity elements into the metallurgical process. Only electric furnaces produce the cleanest alloys.

(2) Electricity is the only source of energy that can obtain high temperature conditions at any point.

(3) The electric furnace is easy to realize the thermodynamic conditions such as oxygen partial pressure and nitrogen partial pressure

required by various metallurgical reactions such as reduction, refining, and nitriding.

The main technical parameters

According to the variety and annual output of production, first determine the rated capacity of the furnace transformer, select the type of transformer (three-phase or three single-phase), working voltage and working current. Then determine the geometric parameters of the electric furnace, including electrode diameter, electrode pole center circle diameter (or electrode center distance), furnace film diameter, furnace depth, shell diameter, furnace height, etc.

All these parameters are usually calculated using empirical formulas and selected with reference to domestic and foreign production

practices.

Submerged arc reduction electric furnace consists of furnace body, power supply system, electrode system, fume hood (or furnace cover), feeding system, detection and control system, water cooling system, etc.

2.1 Selection of raw materials
The raw materials for smelting high-carbon soldering iron are chromium ore, coke and silica. Among them, coke and silica are used as reducing agents.

(1) Chrome ore
The world's chromite deposits are mainly distributed in the Great Rift Valley ore belt in East Africa, the Ural ore belt in the Eurasian boundary mountains, the Alps-Himalayan ore belt and the Taifu-Pacific ore belt. The chromite resources in the nearly north-south fold belt account for more than 90% of the world's total. Among them, South Africa, Kazakhstan and Zimbabwe account for more than 85% of the world's total proven chromite reserves, accounting for more than 90% of the reserve base, and South Africa alone accounts for about 3/4 of the reserve base.
@Mine dressing principle: Since chromium is the most versatile metal, it ranks first among the "strategic metals". In today's world, countries with chromium ore resources or countries lacking in resources are stepping up research on chromium ore beneficiation. The

selection methods include:
1) Gravity selection: such as jig, shaker, spiral chute, dense medium cyclone, etc.
2) Magnetic separation: including high-intensity magnetic separation and high-voltage electric separation.
3) Flotation and flocculation flotation.
4) Combined election: such as re-election-electric election.
5) Chemical beneficiation: processing extremely fine-grained refractory chromium-depleted ore
In the above-mentioned chromium ore beneficiation methods, the gravity separation method is mainly used in production, and shaking table and jigging separation are often used. Sometimes gravity separation concentrate is re-selected by weak selection or strong magnetic separation to further improve the grade and chromium-iron ratio of chrome concentrate.
